IDEAS FOR KIDS

Did you do something really fun to help the Little Free Pantry? Tell us and maybe we'll add it to the list here so other people can try it too!

01

Grocery Store Letter Games

Ask a parent or safe adult to take you to the grocery store and find a [non-perishable] food that starts with each letter of your name. For example, Ben could find a can of Beans, a can of Enchilada sauce, and a box of Noodles. You could also make it a race with a sibling or friend.

02

Grocery Store Color Games

Ask a parents or safe adult to take you to the grocery store and find a [non-perishable] food in every color of the rainbow, whether the food itself of the packaging. You could also make it a race with a sibling or friend.

03

Snack Attack

Do you have a favorite snack, like pretzels? Ask whomever buys it for you to buy you an extra one next time so you can donate it to the pantry! If you like it, someone else does too!

04

Birthday Buddies

Have a birthday coming up? Ask a parent or safe adult to help you buy your favorite flavor of cake mix, a tub of your favorite frosting, candles, and maybe even some balloons and party stuff! Put it all in a bag (like a Ziploc), and put it in the pantry for a birthday buddy to use on their birthday!

05

Mini Food Drive

Host your own mini food drive by asking your parents, family members, neighbors, teachers, friends, church, or other people you know to donate food! See how many items of food you can collect to donate to the pantry!

06

Food Drive Contest

Collect food the same way as in number 5 but make it a contest between different groups - different classes, different grades, different age groups, or anywhere else you have multiple groups of kids who meet. See which group can collect the most!

07

Stock the Pantry

One of the most simple but fun things you can do, is to help stock the Pantry! If someone has food to donate, go with them to help put the food on the shelves so others can use it!

Parents/Adults: Use this as a time to start a dialog about food insecurity and getting involved with mutual aid projects for the people we live around.
